Many years ago……I lived in Ohio. My husband and I had a precious boxer pup, King. He was such a good boy. But, alas, one day he collapsed right in front of me. He hadn’t been sick so we had no idea what was going on. Of course, it was late at night and the local vets were closed. We drove an hour to an emergency vet that was in unfamiliar territory. Long story short…he had fluid around his heart and we had to let him cross the rainbow bridge. Only 5 years old. So, so sad.
Now to get to my Angel. One day shortly after King passed, on my drive home from work I heard a cat meowing. I thought I had totally lost it. LOL. I got home, pulled the car into the garage and shut the garage door. Now there was no meowing coming from the car. My husband and I opened the hood, looked underneath, everywhere we could think of. No cat. Then we heard the meows. I immediately got some tuna and water and tried to coax her out, all to no avail. We still didn’t know where she was.
Finally! We saw her little head pop out from under the car. She was just a little bitty thing. Not more than 6 weeks old. Long black hair with a little white on her chest. Pretty little thing. BUT! I wasn’t ready for any more pets so soon after the passing of King.
We lived in a nice neighborhood and I knew someone would give her a home. So I placed her outside our fence figuring she would wander away and someone would take her in. I know, I know! Sounds so mean. I just wasn’t ready for another pet. However, much to my surprise she stayed right at the fence. Well, I couldn’t have that so she became Smokey. Cause I thought she was a boy. Wrong! Once we knew she was a girl I had to change her name. In my mind God had sent her as a blessing to us. Thus, she became Angel.
Angel is now almost 16 years old and has outlived her 2 boxer brothers we got shortly after she arrived. She now has a boxer sister named Tia. But that’s another story for another day.
Angel is the sweetest girl. Oh, that little bitty kitty is now an 18 lb long hair Maine Coon. She has kidney disease so she is on a special diet. She lays on my lap and purrs all the time. I love her to pieces!
