LOVE! THE. GREATEST. GIFT. EVER!
God gave us the greatest gift of love ever offered. He gave us His only son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When I think of love this is one of the first Bible verses I think of.
And can I just say JESUS! He willingly chose to be crucified for us! YES, FOR YOU! Amazing grace, how sweet the sound. He was fully man, but had no sin. He was tempted just as we are today but He rebuked Satan by quoting God’s Word back to him.
There are many types of love talked about in the Bible and many situations. Read on for some of my favorite Bible Verses on Love.
Bible Verses About Love in Our Relationships
Followers of Jesus Christ must let love shine from within us. Does the world see love shining from you? We need to love those around us. And God tells us to love our enemies.
- “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
- “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2
- “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:14
- “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-13
- “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
- “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:7
- “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:11
GOD’S LOVE
- “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
- “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:16-18
- “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:7
- “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:12
- “We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
- “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
LOVE YOUR ENEMIES
- “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Matthew 5:43-45
- “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:27-31
- “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” Luke 6:35
- And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. 1 John 4:21
I hope these verses have blessed you. They can be a lifeline to Jesus in your time of need or reflection.
