I was so excited to find a family rated film (PG) about one of my favorite subjects – DOGS!! However, I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before I went to see it.
I enjoyed following Bella’s adventures but it has some very intense, sad moments. There was even one part that I covered my head with my jacket because of the confrontations with Bella and wolves. There were injuries to some animals that were difficult to see. There is also a scene of Bella chained to a homeless man who dies, so the dog is slowly starving until kids find the dead body, And the separations of Bella and some of her humans! So, so heartbreaking! I mean, why would you want to see this, let alone a child!
This is definitely not a feel good movie even though it has a happy ending. Would I take a child to see it? DEFINITELY NOT!!
It is hard to believe that the movie industry deemed this picture to be PG rated. I refuse to put all the horrible sadness and suffering in my review, but suffice it to say that it should not be shown to children. And yes, I probably would have taken my kids based on just seeing short previews. Its loaded with liberal agenda and promotion of homosexual cultures. There are scenes that were very disturbing and again not appropriate for younger audiences.
